Dr c Bollas is one of the most gifted psychoanalysts in the world.Istongly recommend the anyone who wants to learn from a brilliant clinician read and reread his work.His work has shown me his courage in placing himself before gifted and critical audiences and teach by self disclosure which removes the safety of hiding behind theory or his imposing competances.that offers others a chance to witness him working undeterred by his desire to present his humanity as he keeps his focus on the needs of the patient.Do yourself a favor and respond to him. This is an excellent collection of essays by Bollas, providing a comprehensive sampling of the exceptionally wide range of topics addressed by this psychoanalytic writer/practitioner. Some of the topics are a bit technical and of interest mainly to therapists and practitioners of psychoanalytic orientation. Others deal with important topics of general interest having to do with the collective consciousness of human society such as the fascist mindset, the structure of evil, and a particularly thought-provoking essay on a new personality disorder of our times (the "normotic personality") Bollas sees as emerging in a society increasingly caught up in technologically empowered consumerism.
