About the Author

Arthur Vincie has over fifteen years of film and television production experience as a line producer, producer, and director. Vincie has line produced or production managed numerous independent films and is very active in the New York City independent filmmaking community. He has done production work for major television networks, including NBC, ABC, and BBC America. He founded and currently runs Chaotic Sequence Inc., a company that produces shorts and features. He recently wrote and directed the feature film Found in Time, which won the Best Sci-Fi Feature at the 2012 Shriekfest Sci-Fi/Horror film festival.

as a producer of indie films, i can tell you that pre-production can really make or break a project. if you are organized during pre-pro, then your cast, crew, locations and vendors will make life easier for you during production, you won't have as many fires to put out, and you will have a much better shot at getting what you need on set and completing on schedule and on budget. a book like this has been needed for a long time -- one that gives you the tools you need - including paperwork and forms - to get your act together and instill confidence in your cast and crew. considering how many production books are out there and the fact that your time and funds are limited, you'd be smart to buy this process-oriented book and get moving on your project.

I am a NY filmmaker too. I Can tell with certainty that this book knows what its talking about. If you have an idea, these days the best thing you can so it just try to go out and make it. Just do it. This book will be a great tool to help you get ready.

I recommend this book to any filmmaker thinking of making an independent feature. Having heard Arthur Vincie speak in person about the process he goes through when he produces, writes and directs his own movies, I was looking forward to reading it, with the hope that it would contain the same incredibly useful information I've heard him discuss in person. It does, covering every step of the process in detail, from scripting and pre-production, through production and distribution. And, while there are other books on the subject available, what sets this one apart is how well it explains the balance between the artistic process the writer/director goes through, and the practical decisions the producer has to consider, especially when working low budget. Vincie shows how the two effect each other and then offers a lot of creative solutions for dealing with limited resources without compromising your artistic vision.

About the Author
Kamal Salhi is Reader in Francophone, Postcolonial and North African Studies at the University of Leeds and Deputy Director of the Leeds Centre for African Studies, UK. He is the founder and editor of two academic journals, Performing Islam and the International Journal of Francophone Studies. He is the founding director of the Leeds Centre for Francophone Studies (1997-2003) which has developed into the Centre of French and Francophone Cultural Studies. Dr Salhi has recently completed with Distinction an AHRC/ESRC funded research project, 'Performance, Politics and Piety: Music as Debate in the Muslim World'.

However, only some forms of bilateral interaction are found to increase the prospect of survival for autocratic leaders.

"China has long asserted that in its foreign policy, it follows a policy of non-interference in other countries' domestic politics.  Bader (Univ. of Amsterdam) examines that claim and finds "some evidence" that China is more likely to target autocracies for economic cooperation than more democratic countries.  Her analysis moves from a broad general analysis of Chinese foreign relations to three intensive case studies: Burma, Cambodia, and Mongolia.  In her carefully argued conclusion, she posits three hypotheses for further exploration: China is more successful in realizing its foreign policy interests with autocratic countries, China targets such countries for economic collaboration, and autocratic leaders of these countries reap significantly more benefit from the relationship than the populaces of those countries do. About the Author

Duncan Pritchard FRSE is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, UK. His main research area is epistemology, and he has published widely in this field, including the books Epistemic Luck (2005), Knowledge (2009), The Nature and Value of Knowledge (with A. Millar & A. Haddock, 2010), and Epistemological Disjunctivism (2012). In 2007 he was awarded a Phillip Leverhulme Prize for his research. In 2011 he was elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Excellent for beginers

I found this book excellent for an introduction to epistemology. It includes a new section (it was not in the previous edition) about moral knowledge, which I found very illustrative for the beginner.
I recommend this book as a basic reading to anyone interested in epistemology.

A well written and challenging walk through the topic of "knowledge." The book takes a deliberate path from one concept to another that is easy to follow by considering the questions and answers presented. The concepts of logic expressed might be challenging to some people, but not overly so. A lot of "jargon" is used, but not without good explanation of terms which are used in more precise ways than general conversation.

John Bird is the former head of Applied Electronics in the Faculty of Technology at Highbury College, Portsmouth, UK. More recently he has combined freelance lecturing at the University of Portsmouth with his Examiner responsibilities for Advanced Mathematics with City & Guilds. He is the author of over 125 textbooks on engineering and mathematical subjects, with worldwide sales of 1 million copies. He is currently a Senior Training Provider at the Defence School of Marine Engineering in the Defence College of Technical Training at HMS Sultan, Gosport, Hampshire, UK.

Not quite as expected, yet OK

I thought this book would be an alternative to books by K. A. Stroud and Erwin Kreyszig. It isn't as advanced as books by
these authors. This book IS slightly more advanced than Basic Engineering Mathematics books. Perhaps others have
suggestions for alternatives to books by Stroud and Kreyszig; I don't.

Excellent refresher

After years of neglect, I thought it was time to refresh my math... I have got online university math unit and was disappointed on how shallow it was for a semester and that much money. Then I started looking for books. Some were too basic, too slow and bored me to death. Others were too fast and left me in confusion. Finally found this book. It starts with basic additions etc. (not that I needed those :) ) and moves to the nicer stuff at the right pace and ends with cool things like fourier etc.. I even finally understood few things that didn't click with me in uni.
Worked problems are excellent and covers various cases.
I do recommend this book to anyone who is refreshing or even newly studying.
