About the Author
Sandra Strawn is the Head of Technical Production in the Properties Design and Production Department at UW-Milwaukee. Her specialty is properties design and production from a general props class in management and crafts to advanced skills classes in furniture/ soft goods production and casting/molding. Prior to being recruited to start the training program at UWM, she worked as a professional properties master in regional theatre for over a decade. She has been a member of the Society of Properties Managers/Artisans for over twenty years. Ms. Strawn was a consultant on the properties chapter of the Michael Gillette book, "Theatrical Design and Production”.

For learning things the easy way

As an owner of the book and a former student of the author, I cannot say enough about the knowledge contained in this book gleaned from years of Sandy's work in the industry. In the theater world, it is easy to find someone who is in charge of a shop without ever setting out to be in such a position. This is a great manual of the things they don't teach you about leading a shop and organizing yourself to be an effective manager. (Well, they only teach you if you managed to have Sandy Strawn as a professor)

A wonderful, clear and concise manual which covers all aspects of the responsibilities of propping for theatre. Very professional yet user-friendly for students and people who may be thrust into a task they know little about. Also full of great ideas and ways to look at things that are helpful to seasoned professionals....

THE book on managing a prop shop!!!

Very well presented, extremely well organized. This book is THE reference for running a prop shop. Sandy has brought together the knowledge of some of the best in the field. Lots of supporting documentation and paperwork as well as hand's on skill building. I wouldn't be without it.
